Translation Quality Checks

Translation quality policy is based on a set of 'checks' throughout the life of a translation project. This ensures the detection of quality-related issues early in the translation process, rather than after the product has been delivered.

Linguistic Checks
The following linguistic checks should be done on translation projects during and before final delivery:

• Independent internal review by qualified translators
• Sending samples to client for checking
• Implementing clients’ style guides and check lists
• Considering client’s set of glossaries and TMs in checking translation
• Carrying out a final check before dispatch (source and target languages)

Technical and Visual Checks
The following technical and visual checks on translation projects should be done during and before final delivery:

• Making sure that appropriate resources and tools are selected and utilized
• Ensuring correct references are in use during project's life cycle
• Ensuring that similar fonts and styles of the source are used in the target
• For online and html based online help projects, standard QA checks should be run using tools such HTMQA tool.

For software localization projects, the localized version of the software should be subjected to functionality testing, compatibility testing and usability testing
Prior to delivery, a quick check should be made to make sure deliverables are complete as requested by clients.
